Sunday Brunch: Hoboken, NJ – La Isla

If you’re looking to add a new cuisine, or perhaps didn’t know you could, to your Sunday brunch I suggest visiting La Isla in Hoboken, NJ. Located in downtown Hoboken, La Isla offers the most authentic Cuban dishes as well as some of the most creative Nuevo Latino cuisine this side of the Hudson. This Cuban family-run restaurant is no different than taking a trip to Little Havana for breakfast, but come early because the line starts to form after 11:00.

Cuban cuisine is a fusion of Spanish, African, and Caribbean cuisine which results in an interesting flavorful blend of cultural influences. At La Isla you’ll want to start your meal with their cuban coffee or Morir Soñando and

cuban toast. My favorite breakfast menu choice is the Tortilla de Cebolla, Chorizo y Manchego which is an omelette made with onion, chorizo and manchego cheese. The colorful decor and friendly service are all elements to making this restaurant one of the most charming and creative in the area.
